TSX Volume Leaders: BBD.B, EQN, WTN, ML, SU
updated Thursday, August 20, 5:09 PMThis morning it was announced that Bombardier (BBD.B.CA), a Canadian manufacturer of state-of-the-are airplanes, canceled a Learjet order worth up to $1.5 billion. The news had investors hitting the sell button today, with shares dropping more than four percent on 12.6 million shares traded.
Equinox Minerals (EQN.CA), an international mining company, focused on operating its 100% owned Lumwana Copper Project in Zambia. The stock is currently unchanged on about 8.9 million shares of volume.
Western Canadian Coal (WTN.CA) announced today that the company had its financing deal announced it late July. 22.1 million shares were issued at $2.70 Canadian per share for gross proceeds of $59.7 million. Shares of Western Canadian Coal were up more than two percent today on 4.3 million shares of volume.
Mercator Minerals (ML.CA), a mining company working one of the largest copper-moly mining-milling operations in North America, now spends its third day in a row in the volume leaders column. Mercator is currently up more than six percent on 4.2 million shares of volume.
And Suncor Energy (SU.CA), an integrated energy company focused on Canada's oil sands, saw 3.8 million shares traded Thursday. By the end of the day, shares of Suncor Energy were trading lower by a little more than one percent.
