TSX Volume Leaders: WTN, SU, GCE, ML, TCK.B
updated Tuesday, August 18, 4:58 PMResource companies are on the move on the Toronto Stock Exchange today. With gold up about $4.50 and Crude Oil over $68 on the NYMEX, the volume leaders on the TSX are largely mining and energy companies.
Western Canadian Coal (WTN.CA), a producer of high quality metallurgical and thermal coal from mines has traded over 4 million shares today, and is currently up over 2%.
Suncar Energy (SU.CA), an integrated energy company with operations including oil sands development and offshore oil and gas production, has traded almost 4 million shares today, with shares up over 2.5%.
Grande Cache Coal (GCE.CA), an Alberta based metallurgical coal mining company, holding coal leases covering over 22,000 hectares in the Smoky River Coalfield, has traded over 3.5 million shares, and the stock is up over 9%.
Mercator Minerals (ML.CA), a mining company working one of the largest copper-moly mining-milling operations in North America, has traded over 3 million shares today, and is currently seeing shares up almost 2.9%
And Teck Resources (TCK.B.CA), a diversified resource company focused on mining and mineral development with major business units in copper, metallurgical coal, zinc, gold and energy has traded almost 3 million shares, up almost 2%.
